Motorized stage connection

Celly motorized stage setting up instruction for Olympus CX-23

Main steps:

  1. Remove manual stage and focus knob

  2. Connect the focus module

  3. Connect XY-stage

  4. Connect control unit

In modern models, the control unit is integrated into the focus module

1. Remove manual stage and focus knob

Initial state.

Unscrew 3 screws at the base of the manual stage to remove it.

Unscrew 4 screws at the stage-holder to remove plastic handle.

Manually unscrew the right fine focus knob.

2. Connect the focus module

Focus module, 4 screws and a screwdriver. Top rectangle - z-axe connection place, bottom rectangle - microscope backside connection place.

Slide the shroud off and put the motor clutch on the knob screw.

Connect the module to the microscope backside using 4 screws.

Finally, tighten the screws on the motor clutch and close the shroud.

3. Connect XY-stage

XY-stage, 3 screws, screwdriver. Rounds: connection area, platform ledge.

Connect the module to the manual stage place using 3 screws.

On the Olympus CX-21, the screws are screwed into the bottom of the stage.

Make sure that the platform ledge falls into the focus module groove.

4. Connect control unit

Connect signal cables to the control unit matching the red dots on the cable and connector.

Connect the power cable and turn on the control unit.

Almost done! Let's check the CBC test. Set blood smears in the tray (thin part away from you), apply oil to the center of the slides.

Before the app launch move up the stage to 100x lens level

Open the Celly App -> configure analysis -> Type = Blood (CBC).

Check the settings (gear icon):

  • number of cells: 100-120

  • sensitivity: 65-75%

  • crop: 0.15-0.20

  • minimap: Off

  • Motorized Stage: On (can require app restart)

  • Motorized Slide Scan: Off

  • Adapter: Other

  • Recording: Off
